I love traveling. Moving was a regular staple of my childhood. So much so that I identify with being on the road as being home. To give you an idea, I moved from California, to Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, Washington and Oregon before I was six months old. So when people ask me where I am from I say “Elsewhere.” I am not trying to be facetious, it just happens. I could say the place I was born, Orange CA. However, I lived there less than a month and do not really identify as being from there. I could name the place I lived the longest and say I was from the Midwest; Fargo, Moorhead. But that doesn’t really seem right either. I have scattered memories from dozens of states. Some of my fondest memories are from when I went to school in El Portal, I had a bus route that went right past El Capitan.
My name is Shalaco and I am from Elsewhere.
